10th Batch of Pre-Service Teachers: A SEAMEO-SEA Exchange Adventure
Exploring Rural Education: Our Wednesdays at Ban Don Bak and Ban Don Duea Schools
Saturday Adventures: Exploring Museums, Temples, and More
As part of the 10th batch of pre-service student teachers from the Technological Institute of the Philippines, Quezon City, my classmates and I are embarking on a one-month practicum at Udon Thani Rajabhat University in Thailand. Nicole and Mary Joy, both English majors in Secondary Education, and Alyana, along with me—both Special Needs Education majors—are grateful for this opportunity through the SEAMEO-SEA Teacher Program, which took place from November 6 to December 4, 2024. Follow along as I share our experiences in teaching, cultural exchange, and personal growth during this incredible journey!
Every Wednesday, we embarked on a meaningful journey to visit rural schools, starting with Ban Don Bak School, a provincial-type school that blends education with life skills development. The school features a farm where students engage in hands-on learning, showcasing their hard work and dedication. The teachers are welcoming and accommodating, creating a nurturing environment for the students, who are not only polite but also eager to learn practical skills. On another Wednesday, we visited Ban Don Duea School, which also carries the charm of a rural setting. This school is less crowded, providing a more focused and peaceful atmosphere. Both schools left a lasting impression with their warmth, dedication, and the unique educational experiences they offer to their students.
Every Saturday, we embark on exciting trips to explore new places, from museums and temples to parks and beyond. There’s something incredibly fulfilling and refreshing about visiting locations with rich historical significance and stunning beauty. The experience of being in such peaceful and culturally meaningful places not only enriches the mind but also provides a sense of relaxation and joy. Each trip feels like a new adventure, offering a perfect blend of learning, relaxation, and a deeper appreciation for the world around us.
